Nendo, meaning “clay” in Japanese, embodies the color, spirit, and artistry behind this remarkable tea. Sourced from Isshin En Tea Plantation in Miyazaki Prefecture, this competition-grade organic houjicha is an exceptionally rare expression of Japanese tea mastery.
Crafted exclusively from the stalks of kamairicha (pan-fired tea), Nendo is the signature creation of tea master Tetsuya Kai, who blends several rare cultivars — including Kanamidori, Miyamakaori, Yamanami, Takachiho, Harumidori, and Saeakari. Many of these varietals are unique to Miyazaki, making this houjicha a true regional treasure.
With its deep, roasted aroma and layered complexity, Nendo reveals notes of baking chocolate, sweet tobacco, and walnut, resulting in a smooth, comforting cup that lingers beautifully on the palate. Hand-picked during the 2024 harvest, it reflects the patience, precision, and soul of Japanese tea craftsmanship.
